Cycling in France like a pro on well-known cols such as Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon, Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d’Huez.
La Douce Montagne is the perfect base for cyclists. The hotel is situated in a valley, meaning the start and finish of your trip are flat. From this valley you can reach the most beautiful mountain passes, like Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon, Col d’Ornon, Col de la Morte, Les Deux Alpes and last but not least Alpe d’Huez. During spring, summer and autumn the weather is generally good and sunny which makes the cycling very pleasant. We know climbing a col in the burning sun can be an exhausting activity, but once you’re back at the hotel a refreshing drink on the terrace or a dip in our pool will ensure the well-deserved cool down.
Special pasta buffet for cyclists
During the summer season we offer a daily pasta buffet between 2 and 6.30pm, available to all cyclists who need a refill of carbohydrates after the challenges faced that day or to fuel up for the days ahead.
Secured cycle shed
The hotel has a secure bicycle shed available for your bike. The shed is locked up and secured with an alarm during the night.
Cycle routes (Strava)
We have a booklet available against a small fee with a number of suggested road cycle routes in the area. Besides the route description you’ll find an elevation profile for each route as well. The routes are downloadable from Strava too. You will also find several books about cycling on our bookshelf, which are available for viewing in the bar.
Bike rental
During summer there are bicycles available for rent in Bourg d’Oisans (about 10 km from the hotel). Here you also find cycle repair shops or maybe there’s a handy cyclist staying at the hotel who wouldn’t mind lending a hand.

Auberge La Douce Montagne is one of the cycling accommodations in the region Oisans. The label “Accueil Cyclo Oisans” gives visitors an indication of the provided services and equipments that are aimed at cyclists. There are accommodations with 1, 2 or 3 “wheels” according to the level of services and equipments provided. Auberge La Douce Montagne has been granted 3 wheels.
