Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski

Winter sports in France

You are here: Home / holidays in the French Alpes / Winter sports in France

When you come back from the slopes Hotel La Douce Montagne welcomes you with a cosy and warm atmosphere. You can reminisce about the day or make plans for the upcoming ones while enjoying a warm beverage at our fireplace. Or maybe you still have enough energy to put on your dancing shoes during the après-ski.

After a delicious three course dinner you could either play a game, watch television, read a book, relax in the sauna or maybe go to bed already to hit the slopes as early as possible the next morning.

Ski resort Alpe d’Huez (Grand Domaine Ski)

The winter sport resort of Alpe d’Huez, with its 250 kilometre of slopes and six access villages, is one of the largest ski resorts in France. The resort has slopes suitable for anyone from beginners to the most experiences skiers/snowboarders. To top it all off there are many off-piste descents as well.

The longest black slope in Europe starts from the highest accessible peak of the resort, the Pic Blanc at 3330m. From the 16 kilometre long Sarenne you can enjoy the remote and mountainous area without a ski lift or building in sight.

Apart from skiing and snowboarding the area also offers many opportunities for tour skiers. There are many kilometres of prepared tour skiing runs. For the walking enthusiast there are also several winter hiking trails either in the valley or at higher altitudes.

The departure of the new cable cars (L’Eau d’Olle Express) is situated just a few steps away from the hotel. In only 8 minutes this lift will take you up to Oz-Station, one of the access points of the Grand Domain of Alpe d’Huez. At the end of the day you can take the lift back down to the hotel again. Your winter sport material can be stored in the (heated) ski lockers (for rent) at valley station of the cable cars or in the (non-heated) storage room next to the hotel.

Besides providing information about the ski resort and local area, we can also organise ski rental, ski storage and ski school for you, all based in Oz-Station.

If you would like more detailed information about the ski resort please check the following websites: www.oz-vaujany.com,  www.alpedhuez.com and/or www.oz-en-oisans.com.
